Saint Isaac's Cathedral

It is one of the greatest buildings of its time that even today stands out for its magnitude. It was built in the 19th  century for 40 years and is fourth with the same name. It was conceived as the largest temple in the Russian Empire. Among the similar dome temples, the Cathedral of Saint Isaac occupies the fourth place in the world for its dimensions (height 101.5 meters), conceding only to the Saint Peter's Cathedral in Rome, Saint Paul's Cathedral in London, and Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence.

The temple has the impressive iconostasis decorated with malachite and lapis lazuli, mosaics, sculptures and paintings made by the best Russian artists.
